Revitalising Massage
With all our
massage
therapies you have the choice of
essential oils for relaxing mind and body, revitalising the senses or
relieving the aches and pains associated with stiff muscles.
Alternatively you may wish to have your therapist design a bespoke
combination of oils specifically to your requirements. This will always
be the case if you are convalescing or have any specific medical
conditions. Clients should expect to answer some questions on their health
and lifestyle as part of a thorough consultation.
When the body is touched, receptors in the skin send
messages to the brain causing the release of chemicals such as endorphins.
This produces a sense of relaxation, euphoria and well-being and usually
also provides pain relief. Massage improves the flow of blood and lymph fluid,
helps eliminate waste products from the body, and relaxes the muscles - it
can help regulate hormone production and stimulate the immune system. As well as the above, body massage can be useful for specific ailments
such as back and neck pain, asthma, convalescence and recuperation,
insomnia, headaches, sports injuries, immune deficiency disorders and is
especially effective for stress related disorders and depression.
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is a seated treatment where clients
are fully clothed. Your therapist will tailor your treatment to your
requirements – either invigorating or indulging. Deep relaxing moves are
employed on the back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and if required, the
face leaving you feeling serene, tranquil and refreshed.
Indian Head Massage can help with specific ailments such as congested
muscles in the upper body, migraine, eye strain, anxiety, jaw tension and
all stress related conditions.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient therapy which works through
the body’s meridians or energy channels – as with acupuncture – and is
based on the principle that there is a
map of the body on
the feet
with
reflex points on the sole, toes,
heels, ankle and top of the foot that
correspond to organs and structures within the body.
A practitioner will
access those points through the feet using a variety of gentle techniques
and can firstly assess and then stimulate weak or vulnerable areas in the
body. A therapist will not diagnose any condition or claim to cure but
ever increasing research into complementary therapies is uncovering a
potential for healing that goes well beyond previous assumptions.
Treatments range from £25 to £40 (taking
30 minutes to an hour, depending on treatments), and can be carried out in your room or
in the lounge area privately, or openly if it is a seated and clothed massage.
